This policy explains what personal information Macro collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run your research agents, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it.

1.Who we are

Macro is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (ABN [ABN]) (“we”, “us”). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, where they apply to you, other privacy laws such as the GDPR and US state privacy laws.

2.Information we collect

Information you give us. Your name, email address and login details when you create an account; anything you write in the Service, such as investment theses, prompts, agent instructions, chat messages, notes and watchlists; and messages you send to support.

Information collected automatically. Device and browser type, IP address, approximate location derived from it, pages and features used, and diagnostic and crash data.

Payment information. If you buy a paid plan, our payment processor [PAYMENT PROCESSOR] collects your card details. We receive only limited details such as the card type, last four digits and billing country.

We do not ask for your brokerage credentials, holdings, tax file number or other sensitive information, and ask that you do not put it into the Service.

3.How we use information

  • to provide the Service, including running your AI agents and showing their results;
  • to create and secure your account and prevent fraud and abuse;
  • to understand how the Service is used and to fix and improve it;
  • to communicate with you about your account, changes to the Service and, with consent, product news;
  • to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4.AI processing

To run your agents and answer your questions, we send the relevant parts of your content (such as a thesis or prompt) to AI model providers, currently [AI PROVIDERS, e.g. Anthropic]. They process it on our behalf to generate a response.

Under our agreements with them, these providers do not use your content to train their models [CONFIRM AGAINST EACH PROVIDER’S TERMS]. We do not use your content to train our own models [CONFIRM].

5.How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • service providers who help us run the Service, such as hosting ([HOSTING, e.g. Vercel]), database and authentication ([AUTH / DB PROVIDER]), AI model providers, analytics ([ANALYTICS]), email ([EMAIL PROVIDER]) and payments, each bound to use it only for that purpose;
  • professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under confidentiality;
  • authorities where required by law or to protect rights and safety;
  • a buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

6.Overseas transfers

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in [COUNTRIES, e.g. the United States]. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7.Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies and similar storage to keep you logged in and remember preferences. We use [ANALYTICS TOOL, OR “no third-party analytics”] to understand usage in aggregate. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the Service may stop working.

8.Retention

We keep personal information while your account is active and for as long as needed for the purposes above. When you delete your account we delete or de-identify your information within [PERIOD, e.g. 30 days], except where we must keep it longer for legal, tax or security reasons.

9.Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No system is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the regulator as required by law.

10.Your choices and rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or export your content, by contacting us at [PRIVACY EMAIL]. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in them.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as objecting to or restricting processing, or opting out of certain sharing. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11.Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and tell you about material changes by email or in the app.

13.Contact and complaints

Privacy questions or complaints: [PRIVACY EMAIL], [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, or to your local data protection authority.
